The film Tyrannosaur which had won several awards is a British produced film.
The implication I got was that its fairly low budget compared to other films. Also it's directed at mainly British people because of the understanding of how certain classes are lived which only really exist in Britain.
However I do believe that the title and cover is quite misleading as to what the film is all about. Giving the impression to most people that it's about dinosaurs and not about a mans depressing lifestyle with a tragic past.
I believe the British film company tried to make a film which would only be suited to us. Where we can understand the characters lifestyle and surroundings. Also included is Olivia Colman who has starred in the TV series 'Peep Show' who can be recognized by a British audience.
I would want to watch the film as it would be more relevant and entertaining for a British audience, however I believe the trailer doesn't fully draw me in, as the main plot is difficult to understand.
From the information of the production of Tyrannosaur, it shows to be a less popular film than others. Its total profit from box office was £244,560 from a £750,000 budget. Also it was only brought out in 37 screens in the UK, which compared to Battleships 416 screens shown in, it wasn't a popular film.

Battleship: Distribution, Exhibition & Consumption. How did it attract a British Audience?
The hollywood action film, battleship was created by Universal which was released on the 11th of April 2012. The main website for this movie, holds a series of features to advertise and encourage people to see it. This involves the main trailer presented as you access the website. Another feature is the game, battleships which is placed on their Facebook page to advertise and promote the movie, to another range of audience who enjoy gaming. The movie was a saturated release which means it was released worldwide which shows it was a high budget film costing over $50 million in marketing.
Also by the use of stars featured in the film, expands the target audience by using famous actors like Liam Neeson or Alexander Skarsgard who is very famous in Switzerland. Also Rihanna is featured which would attract a lot more people as her music is very well known.
The exhibition of the film can not only be viewed from a cinema, however through websites like Netflix and Lovefilm which for a subscription or payment are aloud to watch it. Usually the film is put on DVD at a later date. Technology now allows us to view it off certain pieces of equipment such as computer, TV, games console and even phone, these are examples of technological convergence.
The budget for this film was estimated at $200 million, where the genre is an action science fiction. The media conglomerate Universal released the film. There is also a use of synergy which links in with the board game created by Hasbro 'battleships'.

Which area of the film industry (production, distribution, exhibition do you think new technologies have had the biggest impact on and why?
I believe that the area which has had the most impact is from distribution. Social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter can promote latest films which can reach a much larger audience, from the use of word of mouth. Also from the powers of Youtube, videos can be put up by almost anyone and viewed, which is a place where people can watch trailers and other features about an upcoming movie. Web 2.0 allows anyone to upload a video, or people to comment on another.
Finally, sites like Netflix and Lovefilm allow a user to purchase films over the internet from a subscription. Technology today has made it easier for people to discover new films without any effort at all.
